The "Bâton de Saint-Bernard" is a cured sausage inspired by a local
legend. In the Middle Ages, Saint-Bernard travelled through
Villers-la-Ville to mark the site of the abbey with a stick, which then
grew into an oak tree. Today, the "Bâton de Saint-Bernard" is symbolized
by this pure-pork, lightly smoked saucisson, embellished with hazelnuts
and local beer. Produced by the Courtain butcher's shop, it has become
one of the town's star products.
