Description

Overlooking the historic centre of Bornival, the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, together with its former presbytery, cemetery and the ruins of the neighbouring castle, forms a heritage site of great interest.

Built in several phases between the early 17th century and the 18th century, it reflects the evolution of religious architecture and local life over the centuries.

Listed as part of Wallonia’s heritage, it houses a remarkable collection of sculptures, paintings, tombstones and antique furnishings, some of which originate from former religious institutions in the region.

A major restoration programme carried out at the end of the 20th century has restored this building to its former glory; it stands as a true testament to the history, art and traditions of Bornival.
