Walloon Brabant by bike - In the land of the comic book
Did you know that the center of Walloon Brabant has been the breeding ground for many comics and the place of residence of famous cartoonists? Tintin, Le Chat, Cubitus and Yoko Tsuno are some of these characters who grew up on these lands.
Meet the great comic book authors of Walloon Brabant and their well-known heroes. First compulsory passage: Céroux-Mousty. This beautiful Brabant village welcomed Hergé for several decades. You will then go to Limal where Dupa, father of Cubitus lived and to Wavre, the city of Roger Leloup, the author of Yoko Tsuno, whose fresco adorns one of the walls of the city center. Louvain-la-Neuve will be the last big stage of this route. Stop there to visit the Hergé Museum and admire the many frescoes dedicated to comics, spread throughout the city. You may be lucky enough to meet Gaston, Violette, Largo Winch and others.
Sur la Place Albert 1er à Limal, se trouve l’effigie de Cubitus, ouvrage remarquable de l'artiste Yves Cauwenberghs. La statue a été inaugurée le 3 octobre 2002 en hommage à Dupa, le père du célèbre chien, qui passa 30 années de sa vie dans cette localité.

The Water and Fountain Museum is currently an outdoor museum, undergoing transition. Part of its collection can be viewed for free in the Bois des Rêves provincial estate.The museum invites classes and families to discover the wonders of water, the source of life... Listen for the babbling of the fountains in the “Fountain Enclosure”, opened for the museum’s 30th anniversary. You will learn how everything works such as the pumps, wells, Archimedes’ screw and other machines related to water.

Le lac de Louvain-la-Neuve est une étendue d’eau de 7 ha aménagée en 1984 pour servir de bassin d’orage et d’étang de pêche.
Le lac présente un intérêt particulier pour la flore et la faune. Son profil en pente douce et ses zones de grandes profondeurs ont favorisé la présence d’une île et d’une ceinture de végétation qui couvre ses bords. De nombreuses espèces d’oiseaux y font une halte migratoire et d’autres s’y retrouvent plus régulièrement. Diverses espèces d’amphibiens y ont également été observées.
Le lac est particulièrement fréquenté par des pêcheurs mais aussi par la population qui vient s’y détendre les jours de beau temps. Un sentier piétonnier nommé « Rêverie du Promeneur solitaire », long de 1.570 m, permet de faire le tour du lac et d’en admirer toutes ses richesses.

Louvain-la-Neuve lake has seen some changes since it was created in 1984. Originally created as a stormwater basin and for fishing, this lake is located in Walloon Brabant’s newest town and is very popular with all. A little haven of greenery in the heart of an urban area, this is a great place to recharge your batteries. You can admire the delightful plants along the banks of the lake as you take your walk or run. Picnics, disc golf, playing on the grass or sitting with a book, there are many ways to enjoy yourself here!
