Brasserie du Lac

Moored on the peaceful Genval lake like a noble vessel, the Brasserie du Lac is one of the Brabant Wallon region's most popular gourmet addresses. Run by Michel Grenier with passion and professionalism, this establishment flies the flag of the Belgian brasserie tradition. The menu is wonderfully varied and adorned with classics, seasonal dishes, maritime marvels and the best-sellers of a Chef who has earned his spurs with the best. This is a great place to put your feet under the table and enjoy the quick, efficient and attentive service. The dishes are to die for, with highlights such as the home-made grey shrimp croquettes, fish soup with rouille sauce, sole meunière, cod steak with a mousseline sauce or prime cut of beef with shallots…. And true to its watery backdrop, Brasserie du Lac also serves fabulous fresh shellfish from its on-site stall, with a choice of 6 families of cupped oyster, 3 families of flat oyster, clams, sea almonds, sea urchins, mussels, scampi and whelks served at the oyster bar or as a platter.

Archery Museum

The Archery Museum has been set in a tower since 1928 to allow for popinjay (very handy in winter!). This tower has two perches which are the last covered perches still in use in Wallonia.The museum looks back at the use of the bow from prehistoric times up to modern day and the emergence of vertical popinjay as a leisure activity. You will find models of traditional, pulley and Japanese bows as well as different types of arrows.Come and have a go at vertical or horizontal popinjay! Aywieres Abbey in Lasne

Founded in 1215, the Aywiers Abbey has prospered thanks to donations from the lords of Brussels, growing to 2000 hectares. Saint Lutgarde, the patron saint of Flanders, lived there for 40 years and is said to have performed many miracles.Since 1992, the English-style gardens of the former Aywiers Abbey open twice a year for the Garden Festival.

Solvay Regional Estate - Castle of La Hulpe

The Solvay Regional Estate in La Hulpe is affectionately called the "Park of a thousand rhododendrons", and is one of the loveliest places for a stroll in the country.Lawns, woods, rhododendron beds, and remarkable varieties of trees enhance some 227 ha. This magnificent wooded park just outside Brussels boasts paths around and over tree-lined hills and ponds with exceptionally rich animal life.It is also home to Béthune castle, built in 1842 using the Loire castles as a model, and its French gardens with decorative sculptures.The castle is not open to visitors.Not far away, Folon’s discreet but clear presence is expressed through the poetry of his art. Like an open book, the Folon Foundation will reveal the different works by this Belgian artist. You will find some of his sculptures spread over the four corners of the property, guarding the estate. The estate, a protected site since 1963, has been listed as a Major Walloon Heritage Site since 1993 and is also part of the Natura 2000 network.

Domain of the battle of Waterloo

Discover the site of the battle of 18th June 1815 where 300 000 men from 7 nations clashed. The Memorial 1815 pass combines various attractions linked to the Waterloo Battlefield:- After a memorable climb of 226 steps, the Lion's Mound gives you a unique view of the battlefield.- Buried at the foot of the Lion's Mound, the Memorial allows you to experience one of the most turbulent times in our History as if you were there.- An immense panoramic frieze (circumference 110m, height 12m) made in 1912 takes you to the heart of the battle with an impressive soundtrack.- Last authentic witness of the battle, the Hougoumont Farm provides a unique setting: 4 exhibition rooms coupled with a multimedia show.

Lion's Mound

The Lion's Mound gives a unique view of the battlefield after a memorable climb of 226 steps. This 40m tumulus was erected on the spot where it is thought that the Prince of Orange was wounded before he became the King of the Netherlands. The Mound symbolizes the victory of the allied monarchies.

British Ambulance

On June 15th 1815, the Duke of Wellington decided to establish his field hospital at the farm of Mont-Saint-Jean. During and after the battle of Waterloo, near 6000 soldiers were treated there.This former, hardly ever sanitized hospital is now a museum. Discover the work of surgeons in times of war, the surgical instruments used, the weapons, uniforms, ammunition ... with an impressive recontextualisation of the facts.Stories and illustrations of the work of the Scottish surgeon Charles Bell, present at the site in June 1815, are also on show.The broader history of the farm is also presented. More than eight centuries old, it was occupied by the Order of Malta, turned into a farm and housed a brewery. Take the opportunity to enjoy the Waterloo beer, brewed on site.
