Description
Founded in 1215, the Aywiers Abbey has prospered thanks to donations from the lords of Brussels, growing to 2000 hectares. Saint Lutgarde, the patron saint of Flanders, lived there for 40 years and is said to have performed many miracles.
Since 1992, the English-style gardens of the former Aywiers Abbey open twice a year for the Garden Festival.
