Nature and good food in Walloon Brabant!
Take a drive down the centre of Walloon Brabant from north (La Hulpe) to south (Villers-la-Ville).

Starting point
1310 La Hulpe

The Solvay Regional Estate in La Hulpe is affectionately called the "Park of a thousand rhododendrons", and is one of the loveliest places for a stroll in the country.Lawns, woods, rhododendron beds, and remarkable varieties of trees enhance some 227 ha. This magnificent wooded park just outside Brussels boasts paths around and over tree-lined hills and ponds with exceptionally rich animal life.It is also home to Béthune castle, built in 1842 using the Loire castles as a model, and its French gardens with decorative sculptures.

Twenty minutes south of Brussels, in the lovely Solvay Park, the farm of La Hulpe Chateau houses the Folon Foundation. Designed and created by Jean-Michel Folon, it presents more than 40 years of creative work in a lively and original scenography, designed by the Belgian artist himself. He opens for us the book of his life .. Through the pages the visitor discovers the multiple facets of his art and his world; among the 500 works on show : watercolours, silkscreen-prints, etchings, posters, objects, stained glass, sculptures,... Music, films, optical effects animate an interactive tour: one penetrates into an immense book, enters the head of the blue man, loses oneself in mirror games, finds endless posters and the secrets of the artist''s studio and ends the tour under a myriad of stars. After your visit stroll in the 220 hectars of the green Solvay estate, with it''s varied landscapes, around lakes and inhabited by amazing flora and fauna. The Folon Foundation also invites you to organise your conferences, seminars, receptions and other meetings in an area with real charm on the first floor of the farm. You can also arrange evening events, and visit the museum with experienced guides, in the language of your choice. For refreshments, we can offer flexible menus and the creative touch of the Caterer "Vandevelde" - who offers original - he can supply a large choice of bio produce - and classic arrangements.

Just a short distance from the "Fondation Folon" stands "La Taverne de l'Homme Bleu". In a sleek setting, and with a "table d'hôte" atmosphere, it offers diners a range of salads, omelettes or sandwiches, as well as other sweet or savoury suggestions. Do come and sit for a while on its magnificent terrace, with a view on to the orchard. It's the perfect spot to chill out.
