Day 1 - Friday 24 October
Depart early in the morning from Barchon (several pick-up points planned) – Your adventure begins.
The coach takes you along the roads of the past, towards Ligny, Napoleon’s last place of glory. In the morning, your guide takes you inside the Ligny 1815 Museum (“Musée de la Bataille de Ligny”). Surrounded by displays of weapons, authentic uniform and gripping stories, you will feel the tension of the hours leading up to Waterloo. Bonus: you will be accompanied by an enthusiastic guide.
Free lunch break in Ligny, in the heart of a village that still seems to whisper the footsteps of the Old Guard.
In the afternoon, the coach heads for Waterloo where you can check into the Van der Valk Hotel****. The modern comfort contrasts delightfully with all the stories from the morning. In the evening, gather for a three-course dinner, sharing your impressions in a relaxed atmosphere. The night gently wraps around you.. tomorrow, the story continues.
Day 2 - Saturday 25 October
After a hearty breakfast, you will set off in the footsteps of Wellington.
In the morning, you step through the doors of the Wellington Museum, the former inn that became the headquarters of the UK’s most famous Duke. There, among original letters, strategic maps and period objects, you will experience the calm before the storm of 18 June 1815. The tour is narrated by a guide dressed in authentic historical costume!
After the tour, stroll through the centre of Waterloo: free time to explore, enjoy a meal or shop for some historical souvenirs.
In the afternoon, it is time to indulge! Head for the Mont-Saint-Jean Farm, a former military hospital that is now a brewery and craft distillery. Enjoy a fascinating guided tour followed by a tasting session to awaken the taste buds and warm the hearts.
Return to the hotel, enjoy a delicious dinner and a second night spent in peaceful silence… or imagining the distant sound of drums.
Day 3 - Sunday 26 October
Wake up gently, enjoy a gourmet breakfast, and set off for the battlefield.
This morning, you wander at your own pace through the emblematic sites of the Domain of the Battle of Waterloo: the Lion’s Mound, the 1815 Memorial, the monumental Panorama, the Hougoumont Farm… The sites speak for themselves. Silence, goosebumps and admiration. The visit is self-guided, allowing you to focus on the sites that interest you most. And do not miss the many events at the foot of the mound!
Lunch is at your leisure – why not have a picnic at the foot of History? Several restaurants nearby also offer a warm welcome.
