Ce monument remarquable de style éclectique, est inspiré des Stupas de l’Inde mais aussi de divers styles d’architectures : égyptien, omeyade, grec, roman. Il a été classé premier monument funéraire en Wallonie, en 1988 et en 2013 il a été classé monument exceptionnel de la région wallonne.Il fut construit à partir de 1886 par Eugène Goblet d’Alviella dont le grand-père, le général Albert Goblet reçu le titre de comte d’Alviella pour service rendu à la reine Maria II du Portugal, nièce de Léopold Ier. Eugène fût un homme d’état, un historien, un protestant libéral, un franc-maçon, un philosophe et un grand voyageur. Le Mausolée est un résumé des convictions philosophiques d’Eugène, on y trouve représentés les symboles de différentes religions, et des symboles de vie et de renaissance.

Cette chapelle a été aménagée dans les murs de deux anciens cafés. Elle succéda à la chapelle castrale du château de Beaurieux disparue comme lui à la fin de l’Ancien Régime. Elle fut d’abord desservie par un vicaire de Court puis une maison fut aménagée pour y installer un chapelain.
